JFK is DEAD!

In case Mainers haven't noticed (and I don't believe they have). THAT Democratic party is no more.

John Baldacci was elected governor again. This makes me sad. Very, very sad.

Maine is very much a red state acreage-wise, but there are small pockets of high population areas that vote Dem. Much like a lot of the country. I live in Maine for a reason.

Every Sunday morning I hear church bells ring. I know the seasons by the smell of cow manure and the color of the leaves. I love the smell of wood smoke. Tractors are everywhere. I can sit in our yard petting calves with my kids and telling them not to let the cow latch onto their hand because they'll never get it back. I like honor-system roadside farmstands. "Ya here for the cohn (corn)? It's on the porch. Put the money in the jah (jar)." No questions asked. No one looks at you twice unless you're dressed too nice. Then they give you the hairy eyeball.

We know who is in our community. And no one gossips. Gossips aren't tolerated. The neighbors may not like the Canadian flag you hang under your American flag but "it's your proptay (property)". Live and let live. Just don't cause trouble. Cause trouble and they'll accidentally shoot you during hunting season. (Just kidding.)

I hope it stays this way.

Sounds a bit like living in Wales.

Governed by a load of "suits" in Westminster (London) who havn't got the faintest idea what goes on in places like Ystrad Mynach (probably don't even know where it is - or care).

I am moving to Maine! I live in a very blue state with small pockets of red in the suburbs and farming communities. Hate it!! Really, Western WA is the complete opposite of Maine.

Come on over! We're going to turn this state around.

I'm hoping that two years of Dems (both here and in DC) will be enough to convince people that we don't want to go in that direction.

And . . .

The freaking Republican party needs to start acting Republican again. Who do they think they represent anyway? I'm tired of that crap. I can see myself going into local politics.

And Merlin, I think politics might be similar everywhere.

What is wrong with these people? Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely?

Where did they come from anyway? Were they born with silver spoons in their mouths? Probably.

I fear that this is exactly the problem Shmoop. Power and money are very similar ; the more you have the more you want.

The difficulty is that - if we're honest about it - we all have tendencies in this sort of direction.

I know I have ; it's one of the things I don't like about me !

(I'm sure you can think of plenty more).
