Grab That Book

Tagged by The Zeekstress

Grab that book

1. Grab the nearest book.

2. Open to page 123.

3. Find the fifth sentence.

4. Post the text of the next four sentences on your blog along with these instructions.

5. Don't you dare dig around for that "cool" or "intellectual" book on your shelves. (I know you were thinking about it.) Just pick up whatever is closest.

"Fall down the stairs in a whorehouse?"

Switters checked Bobby's black leather jacket for signs of moisture. "It's quit drizzling, hasn't it? Let's go out on the side deck where we can talk-privately-- although even the deck could be bugged."

This is a giveaway, I think. I asked the Pointy-Headed One to hand me a book off of my shelves, and this is the one he handed to me. And I'll tag the Ferfelater.

"People of zee wurl, relax."

Switters is the main character.

I once stated that Ferfe is the female equivalent of this author.

Tom Robbins ? But I can't think what.

Not "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues " - it's later than that.

OK - I admit I've looked it up now and I guess i must have read this in 2001 - a particularly bad year for me (which explains why it's familiar but I can't remember a single thing about it).

Thanks Shmoop - I was looking for something to read : I think I'll try some more Tom Robbins.

I think it's Tom Robbins Zeek. Think I read this at the same time as "Carter Beats The Devil" which is a lovely book (completely suited my frame of mind at the time. I needed to beat the devil too. I didn't.)

Other Tom Robbins fans?! Cool! I love Tom Robbins. One of my faves.

This quote is from "Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates".

Oh yeh....Tom Robbins was/is one of my all time favourites and I really must catch up on him.

He must be almost as ancient as me now.

I can't do a quote right now as I'm in work and the result will be like Ferfe's (I'm surrounded by Network Manuals).

I'll pick a book "at random" (ask my daughter to do it) when I get home.

Sayeth Merlin:

"I guess i must have read this in 2001 - a particularly bad year for me (which explains why it's familiar but I can't remember a single thing about it)."

So . . . what happened that year?

(Just ignore if you don't wish to speak about it. I won't be offended.)

Shmoop - four sentences as requested on my blog.

Tam probably has enough information to tell you what was wrong with 2001 (if you're going to ring her soon).

If not I'll explain later.

All Good Things,

Incidentally , if you check Zeek's blog for January 27, 2006 you'll find that this is all very familiar !
