I was thinking LOTR at first - then the speech happened and it had Braveheart written all over it - looks great, can't wait to see it.

It's based on the battle of Thermopoles (or somesink like that). The movie is inspired by a comic book/graphic novel of "300" by Frank Miller which is why I think they made the movie fantasy-like.

Spartans kicked ass.

It's the Battle Of Thermopylae where Leonidas and 300 Spartans held up the Persian Army commanded by Xerxes whilst the rest of the Greek Army retreated successfully.

Sort of Custard's Last Stand (in reverse).
