Me love you long time!

Yep. It's been a long time since I've posted. Why? you ask.

I've been busy rearranging my life. The kids are great. Growing like kudzoo. Freaking me out with the things that come out of their mouths. (And I love it.)

I want to be a teacher. (Diabolical laughing from Shmoop). An art teacher for either Elementary or maybe Junior High students. I haven't made up my mind yet. I'm usually most comfortable wherever I'm the outcast, so I'll probably fit in great in public education in America. General ED is okay, but I'd rather teach art. I function so much better when I have a goal.

Wish me luck, eh? Classes are starting soon.

Prayer

God,

Help me to
believe the truth
about myself
no matter
how beautiful it is.

Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time in a land far away,
a beautiful, independent,
self-assured princess
happened upon a frog as she sat
contemplating ecological issues
on the shores of an unpolluted pond
in a verdant meadow near her castle.
The frog hopped into the princess' lap
and said: " Elegant Lady,
I was once a handsome prince,
until an evil witch cast a spell upon me.
One kiss from you, however,
and I will turn back
into the dapper, young prince that I am
and then, my sweet, we can marry
and set up housekeeping in your castle
with my mother,
where you can prepare my meals,
clean my clothes,
bear my children,
and forever feel grateful and happy doing so."

That night,
as the princess dined sumptuously
on sauteed frog legs
seasoned in a white wine
and cream sauce,
she chuckled and thought to herself:
"I don't fuckin' think so."

The moral of the story?

If the prince is a prince, he will come to you
as a Prince. If not, don't believe the bullshit the
frog tells you.

Damn Scholastic Book Club!

My son wants the Scholastic Book Club collection of Magic Tree House books. 28 books! Including research books! I just bought him a collection of 4. Now he goes to 28. That's quite the jump.

I can't say no to this. I will buy him the books. I will not buy him toys. I've explained that toys are for Christmas and birthdays. Books? How could I say 'NO' to books? We have some of our best conversations over stuff he reads about in the Magic Tree House books! This collection is only $39.95. He will get the books. After we've built the rocket and after we've opened the weather science kit he's got.

I love being a Mom. I really, really do.

When I Need Inspiration . . .

I think of my Great-Grandmother and listen to this song. As an aside, inspiration comes from the word "spirit".

In a Big Country
Big Country

I've never seen you look like this without a reason
Another promise fallen through
Another season passes by you
I never took the smile away from anybody's face
And that's a desperate way to look
For someone who is still a child

In a big country dreams stay with you
Like a lover's voice fires the mountainside
Stay alive

I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered
But you can't stay here with every single hope you had shattered

I'm not expecting to grow flowers in a desert
But I can live and breathe
And see the sun in wintertime

In a big country dreams stay with you
Like a lover's voice fires the mountainside
Stay alive
Stay alive

So take that look out of here it doesn't fit you
Because it's happened doesn't mean you've been discarded
Pull up your head off the floor—come up screaming
Cry out for everything you ever might have wanted

I thought that pain and truth were things that really mattered
But you can't stay here with every single hope you had shattered

I'm not expecting to grow flowers in a desert
But I can live and breathe
And see the sun in wintertime

In a big country dreams stay with you
Like a lover's voice fires the mountainside
Stay alive
